Meet Amy Bruining, our resident Wordsmith and Copywriter, and the latest addition to our team.

I am a writer. I consider rhyming to be one of my greatest pleasures. I have kept journals since I wore pigtails. I live for the next New York Times best-seller. And I believe peanut butter makes everything better.

See what I did there?

I am also a foodie at heart, but find justification from a good sweat session in hot yoga. Or, by pounding the pavement to a good Spotify playlist.

Yet, at the end of the day, I identify as a creative. I live to scratch the itch (so to speak) every chance I get. I delight in the happy marriage of good content and high-quality design, and I love the power that words bring to a brand, a person or a place. How they give life. How they guide a vision. And how they grow what is to come in the future. Because without words, there is no story upon which to build—no foundation.

I also possess a deep appreciation for the mitten state and my hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

But my creative journey first led me south, where I attended Indiana Wesleyan University and lived in the Hoosier state for nearly seven years. During my time, I gained considerable experience in both corporate and agency marketing. However, I eventually realized what I truly desired: the opportunity to craft for brands that were close to home. Literally. So despite my disdain for lake effect snow, I decided to venture back north.

After all, who wouldn’t stay smitten with the mitten? If you know someone, come talk to me.

As a former undergraduate in English literature, I once stumbled across a quote by John Irving, which says, “If you are lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you have to find the courage to live it.” This ideology pushes me to discover a balance between words and play.

Now, I look to the road ahead with excitement and anticipation. With hope to help others see that the westside is truly the best side.
